WIG AND MAKE-UP POSITION

BARTER THEATRE (founded 1933)- a full-time, year round AEA resident repertory company of theatre artists, a founding member of LORT, located in historic Abingdon, Virginia is seeking a full time WIG MASTER.

Wig master will work with Costume Designers to achieve hair design of production. Ideal applicant would be a motivated and creative self-starter. Should be able to build /ventilate wigs and facial hair, front existing wigs, style and maintain approved styles. Applicant should also be able to create special effects make-up, guide actors in application of special make-ups and create prosthetics if necessary. Cosmetology license / experience a plus. Run of show may be required on larger productions. Maintenance of existing shows a must. Ability to train wardrobe in wig application is required. Also some shopping and stock duties. Start Date- July 15, 2008.

Historic Barter Theatre offers a wide variety of production including world premieres, developing new works, musicals and classics in two newly renovated theatre spaces. We value a collaborative work environment.

The Barter Players

Barter's theatre for young audiences needs help with anything and everything—house management, technical projects, set construction, making costumes, town criers, and more. For more information and to volunteer contact Katy Brown at 276/619-3327.

Marketing

Volunteers are needed to help with data entry, surveys, brochure distribution, general office work and errands. Work when your schedule allows. Earn complimentary tickets for volunteering. Contact Barter's Associate Director of Marketing, Courtney Bledsoe, at 276/619-3343.

Volunteers are needed to help with projects relative to fundraising. Help in research, data entry, filing, and general office activity. Great opportunity to learn about behind the scenes at Barter. Saturday, June 21 from 10:00 a. m. – NOON

Barter Theatre is holding auditions for the role of CHIP in the upcoming musical Disney's Beauty and the Beast which is slated to perform at Barter’s Mainstage this fall.

 

Interested? Here’s what you should do -

Before The Audition

  • Get your parent’s permission.

  • Prepare a monologue no longer than one minute and a song no longer than thirty seconds for the audition.

For the Audition

  • Arrive early and be prepared to stay the entire time. The audition is Saturday, June 21, 10 a. m. – NOON.  Please plan to arrive by 9:45am.

  • Bring your sheet music with you to the audition.

  • Your monologue should be a short memorized piece that helps us see your ability to communicate and project your voice in the theatre.

Beauty and the Beast rehearsals begin late this summer. The show open mid September and runs until mid-November. For the exact time of every performance, visit our website, www.bartertheatre.com   We plan to double cast the role so you would not be expected to be in every performance.
